What to listen for in today’s Bible readings

There were two people in the Old Testament who asked to see the face of God: Moses and Elijah. Neither of them was able to see the face of God. In the first reading from the Old Testament, the Prophet Elijah was summoned by God. Notice how Elijah didn’t see God’s face. He only heard the voice of God. In the Responsorial Psalm we proclaim: “Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.” So, when will we see God’s face? In the Gospel, Jesus reveals that He is the face of God. Notice how at the end of the Gospel the Apostles worship Jesus.
